Welcome to the newest social networking site!

I decided it was time to join the ranks of social networking sites. With this Pink-Link network, you can be instantly updated when someone new joins the site, when a new blog is posted as well as any upcoming events that are planned. My favorite thing about this site is adding photos and video. Being a scrapbooker for 15 years, photos are a huge part of my life. Here we can share and celebrate the happy times, cry over the trying times and empower each other to have the healthiest survivorship we can! I hope you enjoy this new site and I hope you're feeling well. Vicki

My sister has recently been diagnosed with DCIS and is trying to decide about whether she wants to have mammosite brachytherapy or traditional radiation therapy. I am interested in gaining information from women regarding their experience with brachytherapy/mammosite and their thoughts on the pros and cons overall. Thanks so much.

Welcome to our social networking site, Marjorie. You're sister is very lucky to have you in her life! There's pros and cons to mammosite and not all people are candidates for it. I did regular radiation, which was 5 days a week for 7 weeks. It was like a job for me, and I got it done. Whichever radiation your sister chooses, I'd like to recommend the cream that I used to help contain the side effects of radiation. I used Creme de la Mer (which is expensive, but worth it). I used it 3 times a day and lathered it on my breast. I didn't get any redness or blisters from the radiation, just a little tan. Good luck!

Thanks so much Victoria - I want to get it for her. Did you use the face cream or the body cream? I see they have both available. Thanks again!

I used the body cream. I think it's $175 for a jar, which is expensive. I used 1 jar for my breast and used it pretty liberally, 3 times a day. My radiation onc kept asking me what i was using because he was very surprised I didn't have any redness, etc.

A small price to pay and she is definitely worth it! She starts treatment tomorrow. Thanks again for your help!
