Just wondering if anyone would like to talk about their Stage IV metastatic disease. I was diagnosed with recurrence February 2007 and maintaining fairly well. Curious to hear how others are doing. First cancer was found in 1997 (doctors didn't remove until 1998). So, I made it almost 10 years -- and now found that a life style change was in order to provide for a longer life. Would love to hear how others are doing.

This is one lonely looking forum Carol!! TEN YEARS - WOW - GO GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've just (re) read your story on Meg Wolff's site. I read of Meg and her web site, 3+ years ago, when I came across a book on macrobiotics & healing cancer (Recalled By Life) by Dr Tony Sattilaro. It was quite amazing stuff and really rang a bell for me. At the time I tried macrobiotics for about 7 or 8 months, but got lazy, and drifted back to my post diagnosis dairy free 'vegequarian' diet - with chocolate!!

I'm just trying to motivate myself to try it all again. I was dx almost 4 years ago with BC, surgeries in the Dec 05, and extensive bone mets dx in Jan 06( which I discovered a week before adjuvant chemo was to start!).

Prognosis was "doom'n'gloom" - 2 to 3 years to live - "NOT ME!!" I said! Rx was no chemo, no rad, just hormonal tx and my ever evolving CAM strategies (am a very keen researcher!) Some 15 or supp's and vitamins a day now- it chops and changes. I've maintained very good general health (for just turned 46!) - with two young children and single-motherhood/divorce since MBC dx. I do believe BC is a mind/body/spirit "disease" - and as such, needs the same approach to "cure". Great to read about you.
Cheers , Heather xxx
Heather -- thanks so much for responding. I was getting lonely! I was beginning to think I was the only one diagnosed with metastic disease! And it really has only been since February 2007 since being officially diagnosed w Stage IV -- and I'm doing o.k. with some aggressive treatment. Seems my doctor has this thing cornered -- now only in my lymph nodes as the Zometa is doing a tremendous job on my bones. So, I have had 3 rounds complete with 3 more rounds to go. The treatment is Navelbene, Herceptine and Docetaxel. I see a radiation oncologist at the end of the month to see what she says and maybe, just maybe with my holistic approach to this disease, I can kick its butt (and wouldn't that be lovely). I too eat fish -- just white fish though and very occasionally shrimp.

I too am a huge believer in CAM -- taking vitamins 3 times a day based on a naturopathic doctor's recommendation along with pectic and maitake extract. I have recently found some great 'cancer countermeasure' tapes -- at http://www.diamondcrystalmusic.com/ which are suppose to balance ones system.

Wish me luck with tomorrow's treatments. I get the full gammit tomorrow. And I am so thankful that you responded Heather -- may God bless you and your children and I pray much love is in your daily life.

Great to hear from you!! I've actually just been checking on my friends at: http://www.inspire.com/groups/advanced-breast-cancer/discussions/ac... - it's a wonderful site,I think there are 800+ members - a great bunch of girls (and a couple of guys) , mainly from the US, but also UK, Alaska, Germany, Asia, Australia, etc.

We got between us every diagnosis possible and every treatment regime (seemingly) possible; many great experiences and acquired knowledge and most importantly sense(s?) of humour!!!

Good luck indeed with your treatment tomorrow - it's already 'tomorrow' here (10:47 am Wed), lazily sitting at my computer while my girls run amok on spring school holidays!!

Keep smilin' xxxHeather("GGC/Groovygirlcool" - my daughter's idea!! on the inspire.com site)
